Raise your hand if you have ever heard of Geocaching. Oh, good so I am not the only one in the dark here.
What the heck is it? A high-tech treasure hunt game utilizing GPS. Participants locate a cache (a container w/ a logbook and/or small gifts left by previous players) using coordinates obtained from a website. Once you find the cache, you can create your own log entry and exchange a gift of your own for one left behind in the cache by other players
Beginning May 11Th of 2008 and ending on December 31st of 2008, Minnesota State Parks is offering the Geocaching History Challenge. A Geocaching History Challenge cache container has been placed in each of Minnesota's 72 state parks and recreation areas.
Each container includes an instruction card, a logbook and a collectible history card for that park. The container might also include a Sesquicentennial medallion, a travel bug or a trinket left by a previous geocacher.

Go to http://www.geocaching.com/ to open a free account and get coordinates for the History Challenge. Coordinates are also listed at www.mndnr.gov/geocashing.
If you don't have your own hand-held GPS unit, 16 Minnesota State Parks are designated as GPS Demo Parks where you can borrow a unit free of charge!!
Happy Geocaching!!
